The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully conducted the integrated test flight of the Crew Escape System and Orbital Module recovery mechanism at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota today.
Scientists confirmed that all telemetry parameters were nominal as the module separated seamlessly at an altitude of 17 kilometres before performing a soft-touchdown in the Bay of Bengal, where Indian Navy recovery teams secured the payload within 20 minutes.
The test paves the way for the maiden uncrewed orbital flight slated for later this year, followed by India’s first indigenous crewed human spaceflight mission.
